International Girls Day was this past Sunday, and it was all about girls like YOU! Learn more about it from this blog post we wrote last week, then tell us if you celebrated, and how you did!
Being a girl can be tough! You’ve got a million things on your mind, including trying to fit in, dealing with friends, and managing school and all your other activities. Sometimes it’s hard to just sit back and focus on you!
That’s why we’re celebrating International Girls Day, and we want you to, too! International Girls Day is this Sunday, November 14...and it’s all about taking the time to appreciate YOU! It’s a day to realize that, while no two girls are exactly the same, you’re all still amazing no matter where you’re from or what your differences might be!
So this Sunday, take a moment to focus on you, or spend the day recognizing the special girls in your life in these fun ways:
Girls
-
Make cards for your friends encouraging them to reach for the stars!
-
Take time to think about your strengths and goals...or do this with a group of friends. Think about what you’re good at and what you love to do. Maybe you can brainstorm future careers based on your strengths, or ways to contribute to your community...or even the world!
-
Spend time focusing on your favorite hobby or starting a new one! Take up cooking or try gardening...you can do anything!
Parents & Other Adults
-
If you’re a parent, plan a special day for just you and your girl or girls! How about a mani/pedi outing?
A day at the movies followed by lunch? A trip to her favorite museum or park?
-
Sometimes intimate moments are the most inspiring! Talk to your daughter or a girl in your life about your experiences growing up. Let her know what you think her strengths are. If your daughter is athletic, take her to a women’s sporting event or let her teach you about her favorite sport! These things will help inspire her and create confidence!
International Girls Day is sponsored by Kappa Delta and their Confidence Coalition! For more information on this celebration, or more fun ways you can celebrate, please visit their official site here.
