Red Carpet for Local Gal

Oak Elementary School fifth-grader Jordan Moodie was chosen from thousands of entries as one of 12 girls from Tennessee who will be featured in the young girls’ magazine Discovery Girls. Featured in the upcoming October/November issue, she will then be a sixth-grader attending Appling Middle School. As part of her reward, Moodie was able to spend two nights at the famous Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville and was treated to a day of pampering at the hotel’s Relache Spa. After her “make-over” at the spa, she and the other girls were taken to a mock “red carpet” set up for the first of their photo shoots for the magazine. After the shoot was completed, the girls were whisked away in a black limo and taken to the real CMT Awards Show red-carpet event (although it was purple this year). The girls were able to get up close to the celebrity singers. Moodie and many of the other girls were able to get autographs from favorites like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and the group Rascal Flatts. The next morning, the girls spent the day at a Nashville photo studio. Photos were taken that will accompany their individual profiles to be featured in the magazine. They also shot photos that may be used at a future date in conjunction with various features or articles. To be chosen for the magazine, Moodie had to submit her answers to a series of thought-provoking questions. Original Source
