Meet Mary, a Discovery Girl from Oklahoma! This week she’s giving us a sneak peek at her photos and telling us the inside scoop about the DG photo shoot!

Did you do anything special to make your questionnaire stand out?

To make my entry stand out, I used pretty paper with a bandana-pattern border. I also hand wrote mine, then sprayed it with glitter. I love glitter!

Here are two of my entry photos! My older sister and I like photography, so she curled my hair and we went outside and took turns taking pictures.

How did you feel when you first found out that you were chosen?

When I found out I was chosen, I felt shocked and amazed. I screamed for about 10 minutes straight! 

Is it tough completing the article assignments as part of your role of being a Discovery Girl?

No, it was actually fun for me! I enjoyed every minute put into this magazine.

What did you do to prepare for the shoot?

I had to pick out my profile outfit, of course! I wore skinny jeans, UGG boots, and a peachy tan flowy top. My mom and I spent several days doing laundry, ironing and thinking of outfits that would fit the winter season (for our issue) in the month of May! We packed two hanging bags and then accidentally left one in my closet! My dad said the hanging bag left behind was a sad bag…my mom was sad, too, but everything worked out fine!

What did you do at the behind the scenes shoot?

We went bowling and it was great! I got to make friends with all the girls! We all exchanged numbers, and had huge group texts that night! So fun!

What was your favorite part of the shoot?

My favorite part…hmm…that’s a hard one since I loved everything and want to do it all again! I had so much fun! I liked meeting all the girls so that’d probably have to be my favorite part!

Is there anything you want to tell our readers about being a Discovery Girl?

I want to say that this is for sure the most fun a girl could ever have; a Discovery Girl, that is! ☺
