Meet Stacie, DG Cover Girl

When we caught up with Girls’ Survival Guide 2007 cover girl, Stacie, she was running…out the door! And that’s no surprise—Stacie’s summer is packed! She volunteers every morning at her local church, and, today, she was on her way to get a haircut. Lucky for us, Stacie was more than happy to chat on her sister’s cell phone in the minutes before her trim. (Thanks, Stacie!) Here are all her answers to your questions!
Were you scared when you were getting your hair and makeup done at the cover photo shoot?
No, I was kind of excited to see what it would all look like.
Did you feel like you connected with the other girls?
I felt like we connected, but it wasn’t immediate. Some time passed before we really felt comfortable around each other. We just started talking and, before we knew it, we were laughing together.
How does it feel to be on the cover of a national magazine?
It’s really exciting! I mean, it’s not every day that you go to a magazine stand and your face is right there.
How did your friends react to the cover?
Actually, not many of my friends know about it.
Really?!
I kept it kind of quiet. If I blabbed it to the whole world, it might seem like I’m bragging about it or something.
Did you feel comfortable when you were in front of the camera at the photo shoot?
I felt comfortable, but once I started worrying about how I looked, I'd tense up and my face would start to hurt! The best thing to do in front of the camera is to relax.
What advice do you have for girls who want to be on the cover of a magazine someday, or who want to achieve their dreams?
Smile, be yourself, and have fun!

We are so alike! I love Pirates of the Caribbean and my favorite actress is Keira Knightley and my fave actor is Johnny Depp! You did a great job in the shoot and I liked your advice. Except for our favorite colors and a few other things, we are a lot alike.

Hi Stacie! I felt the exact same way about telling people that I was in the magazine. One time I was in Border’s though, and I saw this girl who was in front of me in line, and she saw that I was on the cover of the Discovery Girls magazine that she was buying. She actually wanted me to sign it! You look great on the cover!!!

we are alike in so many ways
we are really alike! My fave color is pink, my fave books are harry potter, my fave subject is science, and I am a HUGE, GIANT PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN FAN! Plus I also like neapolitan ice cream and think Keira Knightley is about the best actress ever. I wish I could met you in person.
