Neatness Counts!
Dear Ali,
I share a room with my six-year-old sister. Every day when I come home from school my room is a mess! Books, socks, and papers are strewn everywhere! Every time I talk to her, it only gets better for two days and then I end up cleaning up the mess again. It’s not fair!
–So Annoyed
Since talking to your sister didn’t work, it’s time to talk to your parents. But before you do, try to come up with a plan to solve the problem. (Otherwise, they might think you’re just trying to get your sister in trouble.) Keep in mind that kids respond best to positive comments, so telling your sister how wonderful she is whenever she puts something away will work better than yelling at her. Maybe you can work out a plan to reward your sister by putting a gold star on a calendar every day you come home to a neat room. After five gold stars, she gets a treat…maybe even some special time with you? And be patient—she will grow up!

my sister does that to me i clean my room and then 10 min. later it is a mess!
Same Here
When my cousins use to come over they would mess up my room and brake my stuff. Even when my aunt saw her kid do these things she said nothing…P.S. take the stand against IT!!
tell it counts
tell your parent or gaurdian if your sister does not stop. Then they can speak to her and she will understand that you both share the room and you both have to take an equal amount of neatness. try to help her out so she can tell you really want it to be clean. If that does not work then that calls for some sterness.
Same Here, Too
When my baby-sat these girls, they would always go into my room and look at everything in it. And the smallest one would always brake things. I had the baby doll ( I have reasons to have one) it was perfect. I had lipgloss and what does she do…. takes the lip gloss and puts it all ovre the doll. So, I just gave her the doll.
lol
That’s not too good:S but giving her the doll was the right thing to do good for you. I think you did the right and responsible thing to do good job!:-)<33333

My Mom's Friend's Kids
Well, my mom has this friend, and she has mentally retarded kids. Not to be mean, it’s the illness. Well, they can’t talk, and they always go in MY room and mess it up! They even broke my computer. I tried my best to stay calm and remind myself they didn’t mean to break it. So I was trying super hard not to cry in front of them, but now I use my mom’s computer. But I kinda feel bad now, since my mom doesn’t let them come over anymore, even when we moved in from my old country, they let us move into their house, so I feel pretty bad about my mom taking the computer thing to seriously because I tried not to cry.
Dear My Mom's Friend's Kids,
My neighbor’s kids are also “Challenged” and they got frusterated with my sister and I for wanting to go home, because we were cold.(It was drafty that evening) Since our garage was open, one of them(They are two boys. One my age, and the other younger than me) took some of our stuff and threw it in evergreen bushes. They were prikley bushes too. So after all of that, my sister had to find all the sports equipment. And the two brothers were never allowed to come near our house again. After the incident, us playing with them ceased…I still feel bad about it though… - Anonymous

My sister did that A LOT, so I was ALWAYS complaining, so finally my parents said I could have my own room.

Little Sister Reply
I have a little sister, too, and I’m glad I don’t share a room with her. She’s three and she never cleans. When I tell her to clean, she startes crying, and says, “I can’t do it!!!!” and lays on the ground with her hands over her eyes and with her butt sticking in the air. It’s a three-year-old thang.-Em
Not Fair
I don’t have a sister or a brother. U guys are so lucky even though they might be messy. U always have someone 2 tell your secrets 2 and love. my cousin is like a broyher 2 me but he’s @ college!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom says “the grass is always greener on the other side”.!!!!!

My friend has 6 sisters and 1 brother! You shouldn’t be complaining
Agreed!
I TTLY agree with you. I’ve been an only child all my life, and to make things worse, I’ve lived in 3 different states AND over 10 different houses. I wish that I had a little sister SO BAD!
Reply to "Little Sister"
I used to sare a room with my sister too, it was when we were really little, but it was really annoying. but i don’t see how all of u people can maintain a perfectly clean room, i can’t. but i totally understand, my sister STILL comes in to my room and jumps on the bed and then she buries herself in my blankets and stuf which totally messes it up! I really don’t like this because i sleep walk, so my bed gets messed up enough with out her coming in ad ruining it.
That is the same thing with me
Thats the same thing my six year old sister does to me and I freak if anyhting is messy
paranoid
ARRGH!!!
Neatness Counts!
You could try color coding things, like all her toys go into the containers with the red dots. All your things are off-limits in the containers with yellow dots. If all else fails, try getting a curtian and seperating the room a little bit more.
me too
Maybe you should try talking to you sis and tell her you problem and maybe she will stop
Same with me!
My brother always messes up my room, and my sister! I share a room w/ my sister and my brother is like… SO EVIL!!! -Anna
I Know How You Feel
Before I moved, I had to share a room with my brother. We had to split the room in half. Maybe you could try that, draw a line in the middle, and one half is yours and the other half is your sisters. If that doesn’t work, for sure, tell your parents and hopefully they can do something about that problem.
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM
i have the same problem but we fixed it we have like a lot of book cases and we just put them all in a row in the middle if the room and that really helps for privicy issues Hope these help, Megan
I dont have that promblom!
I share a room with my twin sister and we both are 9! I have no probloms with it, but when we move into our older sisters room whos at college, i think it will be a total MESS!!!
My Solution
My sisters used to do that to me all the time! I came up with an idea, that while I am not in my room, they can not go into it under any circumstances, and if I was in it, they had to ask before they came in, and if I say no, they have to go away. It has worked so well, except now I have full responsibility if my room gets messy. :( lol ;)
Tell her
Tell her it bothers you that she make a mess of both of your two’s room. Make a cleaning schedule for you two to clean up after your own mess. Get some cool boxes and bins to put her toy’s in. I hope this works for you, good luck!

Nasty Bro's

messy room
Me too! My bro comes in my room and 12 seconds later it looks like A tornado hit my room.
me also
OMG! my sister is the worst. i clean the room which is about the size of a quarter or more of a football feild. and then i go back up there in about 20 mins. and all of my books (about 650) are on the ground. 4 bins of toys are on the ground. 2 bins of of dressup clothes all over the place! i could scream for a whole hour.
Understandable!
My two little sisters do exactly the some thing! One sis is 4 andthe other one is 3. They mess up my rroom and I have to clean it up. It’s VERY annoying!
I Bet
I bet mines worse then your guys’!! I have 3 Little sisters, one of them is 5, and two are twin 2 in half year olds!

I have one word……. WOW
wooo
i’m soo lucky i dont have a sister i only have brothers so i cant share a room
me too!
I have the same problem with my 8 year old sister
MEE TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!
i used to share a room with my sister. But she got her own room about a month ago and all her mess is still in my room! I can't even hang out with friends in there it's so bad
me too
my room is the same, exept the mess is from all this stuff my mom made me put up there so she could have a little party thing with some of her friends. some of it was my brothers, and she didnt make him take it, and his room is all clean and nice. and she constantly gets mad at me for my messy room.
I can relate....a different way though
wow I am the little sister and I used to get on my sister’s last nerve on purpose………just for attention so dont feel soooo bad. no me nd my sis r close as ever dont worry she’ll come around one day.
My lil' sis
I know like when ever I am sleeping or in the bathroom she takes stuff out of my room and hides it or she redecorate my room and puts all my stuff on the floor.
same!!
My little sister Lauren is always messing around with my stuff and going on my IMs. Once she told my crush I liked him and he believed her! Since we share a room, she always says, “Its my room, too and I have a right to everything in this room!”. She learned her lesson when I started reading her first diary and listened in on her “homework” phonecalls. Just do what she does, and she’ll back off (She’ll never do it again!). Or if you aren’t a revenge sort of person, just make sure you close all your IMs when you’re done, buy a diary with a lock and put the key somewhere safe (Taping it to your bed works), and keep your valuable stuff in your parents room.
IT'S NOT JUST YOU
YOUR NOT THEE ONLY ONE I SHARE A ROOM WITH MY TWO SISTERS AND THEY ARE 5 & 8 THE DO NOT KEEP IT CLEAN UNLESS I HAVE TOO BEG THEM SO YOUR NOT ALONE. THANKS FOR THEE ADVICE AL.I AND IT’S GOOD TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE MORE GIRLS LIKE ME A FAN
I know what you're feeling
Yes little sisters can be messy but one thing is that they love you. Try just smiling and saying that you feel really let down by her also explain that if she can’t keep her stuff clean that your parents will be told about her problem.
same here
little bor’s &sis’s can be stupid, but we love them anyway. they love us to and we need to respect that
wow
i have a big sis and would not DREAM of going in her room. She would be soo mad!
~i know~
well my older sister has her own room but she goes into my room and leaves clothes and stuff in the 1 and i hav 2 clean it up!!!! and her room is reallllllly clean!!!!!!!
same with me
that is exactly the same thing with me,exept i have a big brother who does that.
lucky?
I am a only child and i like it sometimes but sometimes i wish i had a other sibling! am i lucky or not?
DEAR LUCKY
I know how you feel. I love being able to have alone time, but sometimes I feel like unless I’m with my friends,I’m not really able to be with any body my same age,or near it. I also think it’s really fun and funny when my friends and their brothers and sisters argue,or lock eachother out of their rooms. On the other hand, though,it would probably be annoying after awhile. I don’t really know. Does anyone else have an oppinion?
—maddy
Well...
That’s exactly it! An opinion. In one way It’s good to have a playmate or someone to talk with about parents and stuff. But it’s also annoying to have a little sibling to tagg along with you. So, really it depends. My older sister and I agree on things a lot and we are both pretty mature about things. We rarely fight, and the reasons we do is just creative differences. Or different ways of thinking. But she’s one of my best friends, and she’s willing to protect me. One time a guy was throwing toys at me and then he started to pull my hair! I was scared, but I tried to fight back. Then my sister told me to hang with her! I felt so Safe!
Lucky or not?
No you are not luck because I have a little sister and she always goes through my stuff you are so lucky you dont have a sister.
Me toooooo
I share my room with with my twin sister! When we are the same age and I am only one SECOND older it is hard not to fight over that. She always gets in the way along with her things so i tell her but she wouldt listen so tell your mom, dad,or other siblings in your house. sometimes you just have to deal.
lucky?
I don’t think ur lucky 2 not have a sis or bro. I have both and we fight a lot but i realize I’m lucky, because since they’re both older they’ve given me a lot of advice on middle school and just what clothes and things are in!
How To Deal
Since i have experience(twin brothers and a 6-year-old sister )i can totaly relate.Have you talked to your parents at all?Maybe you could have seperate sides of the room.you might find something on pbteen.com , they have a whole section on “seperating”.You might also want to put things up in high areas until u get home.Bye!

Twin Tornado
I share a room with my twin sister … one second its nice and cleanand then i go down stairs and check out DG on my computer, go back up stairs after and hour and her dirty underwear and clothes are strewn everywhere! it sucks … but i tell her to tidy up and she does!
I Have a brother
I know that it isn’t exactly easy to share a room but I have my own and just because we keep our Gamecube in there he always trashes my room with his friends and my mom ends up blaming me. Okay maybe I have a little bit of a messy reputation but still…not my fault!
Understanding,
Anna
Totally Opposite
I am the oldest in the family and i share a room with my younger sister. I am the one who always gets our room messy with clothes all over the place!!! My sister gets sooo mad at me.
my sister and i share a
my sister and i share a bedroom together. My sister is five years younger than me and she is a neat freak!!! shes only 7! she ikes the room to be really clean and likes to have our stuff organized. Sometimes she can be a pain but shes like a “clean-up” role model for me even though shes younger!
-Betta
NEAT FREAKS!!!
my little sister who’s 8 years old and i are neat freaks! we love to keep our room tidy and clean and organized. My friends are really awed at our bedroom and how its like a department store [except for the posters and stickers]. i usually don’t have a problem with neatness but i think everyone should clean their room at least once every week or every three days!
-janet
Me to!!
I’m the oldest in my family!!!!But(thankfuly),I don’t share a room with my brother and my room is a mess!!! I’m going to paint it so I didn’t take good carev of it. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!
me too
My brother’s playstation is up in the playroom which light right next door to mine and whenever he eats up there he always leaves his trash up ther and thinks that i will pick it up! So not fair!!! Abd also just because I got a acell phone he thinks that one he should get one and two that it would only be fair if he got a laptop first and he is never on the computer so it is pretty pointless for him to get one and me not to!
