1. As you walk up to your lunch table, your friends are all whispering like crazy. You hear, “She’s such a dork!” before they stop suddenly and eye you guiltily. You:
   Pretend you don’t notice. They’re probably talking about someone you don’t know.

   Launch into a hilarious routine about something that happened in study hall. If you make them laugh, everyone wins, right?

   Ask, “Who’s a dork?” Maybe they’re talking about you, maybe not, but either way, you want to know what’s going on.
2. When your friends see your new, ultra-short ’do for the first time, they crack up and ask who the “new boy” is. You:
   Force yourself to laugh, too, even though you feel like hiding under the table. They’re laughing with you, not at you…aren’t they?

   Put on a deep voice and introduce yourself as “Joe.” You’d never let them know they’re getting to you!

   Give it right back to them, commenting that they’re just too out of it to know your new style is the latest thing in Hollywood.
3. Yesterday was your birthday, but not one of your friends remembered! Do you say anything?
   No—how humiliating! Besides, they would have remembered if they weren’t all so busy…

   Sort of. You casually mention it at lunch, making cracks about how forgetful they all are.

   Yes! You always do something special for their birthdays, so they should at least remember yours.
4. It’s Pajama Day! But wait—all your friends are wearing matching pajamas, and no one bothered to tell you! You:
   Tell yourself they didn’t mean to leave you out. Most likely everyone thought someone else was IM-ing you with the plan.

   Sarcastically thank them for including you in their matching PJ’s idea.

   Ask your friends why no one told you—and consider hanging out with that nice girl in your ballet class…
5. You and your BFF run into your long-time crush while walking home. Before you can even say hi, your BFF starts acting all giggly and silly, as if she likes him! You:
   Say you’ll see them later—and then rush home. You don’t want them to see you cry!

   Start cracking jokes so she won’t know how mad you are. Besides, maybe he’ll prefer laughing with you to flirting with her.

   Wait until he walks away to tell her how uncool that was. She wouldn’t like it if you flirted with her crush!
6. All your buds were invited to your friend’s slumber party last weekend—but you weren’t! When they won’t stop talking about it on Monday, you:
   Ask them to tell you more funny stories from the party, so they’ll know you’re interested in their lives.

   Make up a story about your fabulous weekend, so you can act like you missed the party by choice.

   Ask them straight out why you weren’t invited. But if there isn’t a good reason, you know it’s time to reconsider this friendship.
7. This. Is. Awful. A terrible rumor has been spread about you—by your friends! You:
   Go home early so you won’t have to face them. They probably didn’t mean anything by it….and maybe it’ll all blow over by tomorrow.

   Spend the entire day acting like the whole thing is a big joke.
