Dream job: I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. What I do know, is that I want to do something that helps make other people’s lives easier and the world a better place. Maybe an architect, a writer, a pediatric oncologist or a professional violinist. I guess time will tell!
Hobbies: Playing the violin and viola, playing soccer, skiing, reading, writing and hanging out with my friends.
Friends describe me as: My friends tell me they think I’m smart, friendly and easy to talk to. I think they’re awesome, too!
My favorite food is: There’s no smell like homemade cinnamon buns!
How I make the world a better place: I make the world a better place by donating my time to a peace organization. I work for CISV, an international peace organization that promotes global understanding through cross cultural friendships. I am currently the co-chair of my local junior branch of CISV. I work hard planning activities and minicamps for young people in Halifax where they can learn more about peace and conflict resolution. I went to 2 national conferences last year, meeting other youth leaders from across Canada. I learned a lot about what it means to be a leader, and how to motivate other. I also went to Denmark when I was 11 with this organization, meeting kids from 12 different countries. Kids connecting across the world when they’re young gives me hope that we can make the world a more peaceful place. When I was 12, I also cut off 11 inches of hair to be used to make wigs for cancer patients, and I am currently growing it out so I can do that a second time. I also raised over $600 to help with relief efforts after the 2004 Tsunami.
