Perfect Pinwheels

Perfect Pinwheels

Brisk autumn winds will have your pinwheel spinning round and round! This craft is super easy to make and so much fun!

You will need:

Scissors

  • Ruler
  • Pencil with eraser
  • Cardstock or construction paper
  • Push pin
  • Decorations such as stickers

Directions:

  1. Using a pencil and a ruler, draw a five inch by five inch square on a sheet of cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Draw two diagonal lines from the corners of the square, to create an X.
  3. You now have four sections. Color a small dot in the left corner of each section.
  4. Draw a small circle (about the size of a quarter) in the middle of the square where the X intersects and draw a dot. (Your template should look like the one in the picture)
  5. Using scissors cut out the square template you have just created.
  6. Cut along the diagonal lines until you get to the circle. Do not cut past the circle.
  7. Personalize your pinwheels with stickers, glitter or drawings—this is your chance to get really creative!
  8. Take each dotted corner and fold it to the center dot.
  9. Use your push pin to poke through all of the corners that are now in the center of the pinwheel.
  10. Put the pencil behind the pinwheel and push the pin into the eraser.
  11. Blow on the sides of the pinwheel and watch it spin! (If it does not spin, pull the pin out a little)
