If you’ve ever had to perform, you know how scary it can be to have all eyes on you! Sometimes all that pressure—and the nerves that often come with it—can cause us to make mistakes we’d never make otherwise!
For this week’s Friday Funnies, tell us about the funniest thing that ever happened to you during a performance. We want to hear stories about dance and music recitals, plays, or even giving presentations in front of your classmates at school!
Kinda funny
My play was ‘young robin hood’. I was in this scene where at the end of it, we were supposed to trade money with each other. So there we were, trading money. We were supposed to trade until the end of the scene, so we were trading for like, two seconds. But the eighth grader who worked the curtains wasn’t closing them, so me and three other kids were standing, trading monopoly money, there for likely, two minutes! We couldn’t stop laughing afterward!!!Snowflake Princess!
When I was just little, me and a bunch of other little kids had to do a little ballet following the teacher. As the curtain went down, little fake snowflakes were falling, so I stayed behind catching the snowflakes! I had NO idea!i hate giving presontations i
i hate giving presontations i get really bad butterflies in my stumec and my hands start to shake.in second grade we had a
in second grade we had a presentation so i had a part which was right after a boy. In the presentation i must have not payed attention because i said half my line until i saw the boy look at me. then i stepped back and when i went to the microphone this time i was sounding shaky. so when we came back to class one kid said to his friend, “I can’t belive she almost ruined the whole thing!” I was so sad and mad. And a little embarrased.STAGE FRIGHT.. OR IS IT FIGHT...
I was at the two hour dress rehearsel for my performing arts camp and we were dancing to Safety Dance: Glee version. We all had these suoper cool caution tape belts and bandanas made of ACTUAL caution tape and we were super stoked! We danced too hard and everyone’s caution tape came off. People were slipping and tripping. It was hilarious!burning red...and sweaty
At my first talent show try-out me and my best friend were sposed 2 sing Hot N’ Cold By: Katy Perry together but she was sick so I had had to sing it by myself @ my first time! I was burning in the face as I walked on stage but when I started singing everyone was amazed @ my voice (my sister is a professional singer), and I got the most cheering! But now that i’ve been in 3 talent shows and 10 musicals the stage is my second home!Tripping up
We were singing here comes the sun in chorus and there’s a little dance to go with it and one of the moves is a scissor spin and a kept tripping over my own feet and almost fell multiple times.Sleeping Beauty...Or not...
One day durning dress rehersal for the play Sleeping Beauty, the directors daughter was the princess and it was the scene where the prince kisses the princess. We were only 9 then so they fake kissed. But the daughter was messing around and the director said, “If you don’t cut it out i will make him kiss you!” And then she laied perfectly still on the bed. The “prince” bent down and pecked her on the lips and she compleatly freaked out. She screamed and fell off the bed and ran backstage into the bathroom and she turned on the water and started scrubbing her face off. Then two of the backstage helpers picked her up and brought her back out to the stage. It was VERY entertainingREPLYING TO SLEEPING BEAUTY
LOL! I wish I had seen that with you. Someone should have gotten it on video tape! ;)ya that sounds so funny
ya that sounds so funnyMusic Hurts
We were doing a Camp Rock musical and I was suppose to play Mitchie…so of course when the night of the show came I was all pumped up..my crush was right in the front row closest to the stage and the radio was playing the “final jam” We Rock music and when I did my kick I accidentally hit the radio, and it went flying and hit my crush right in the nose..he was bleeding and everything.I was sooo embarassed, but the show had to go on.OMG
LOL THAT MUST HAVE BEEN BRUTAL!!! DOES HE STILL TALK TO U????Baton & ribbon
It was the 5th grade musical, and it was the first number so every body was on stage. I had my baton, I was cloes to a girl with a ribbon, and on are very last show the got tangeled up, I tried just to pull it out, but that didn’t work I spent arbout 15 secondes trying to get it undon. 15 seconds on stage it alot of time!stage funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one time at camp my class was doing a play and we were supposed to spell t-e-a-m. what happened was we said: gimme a T! T! gimme a A! A! gimme a E! (instead of e) M! and not just one person said it everyone said it!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ahhh!
This isn’t stage fright, but it cause me to be frightened. I guess. LOL so anyway I’m in a production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In one scene, Snow White tells the dwarfs (I always spell it like this now :p) to wash up and exits. I’m the “leader” of the dwarfs, so I go along with her and say, “You heard the princess! WASH!” then I’m supposed to go get the wash bucket. Problem was, the wash bucket wasn’t there. I looked all over the stage but it wasn’t there!!! So I had to go, “Now, where would that wash bucket be?” Luckily, this was only during dress rehearsal and the other dwarfs onstage caught on and started ad libbing. Eventually I managed to go offstage and ask a crew member where it was, and we found it and continued on with the scene. It was scary though!Stage Snack??????
In 2nd grade we were doing a old western Christmas play. We used silly string as a prop in one of the scenes. During rehearsal one day, a guy named Manny must have been hungry or something, HE ATE THE SILLY STRING WHEN IT LANDED ON HIS SIDE OF THE STAGE!!!!! It was and still is the biggest LOL moment I have seen ever in my entire life! When I got home my ribs hurt really ,really bad!!!!!1Laughing Rebel...............I don't think so!
When we were practicing for a Christmas musical, my class was going down to watch some of it (the ones that were not in choir) and I was in the elf group. When we were doing the final number, the elves were first. Then, a rebel in my class ( I’m glad he won’t be coming back in town anymore) was laughing and pointing at me. And then I got totally confused and tripped up. But I kept dancing anyway! At least it was just rehearsal! I was very glad to be an elf in the Christmas Musical!always have fun
Hey don’t be scared, always have fun, it’ll make your nervous side just fly away. I’ve never been nervous, and nothing bad happend. So just don’t be nervous and everything will be okay. Once when I was in 2nd grade at Manchester Gate School all of 2nd graders put on a play. There was this one song called “Put on a happy face” and there is this one part of it that talks about a girl that was always sad and never got her way. Well I was picked to play the sad part. I wasn’t nervous, and everything went okay! isn’t that awsome!oops
this isn’t stage fright but more of a stage blooper. at my play i played a rich lady and us fancy girls were supposed to look at the lead and say her name all shocked, but i came in to early! plus it was opening night and they were recording. then after we got off stage one of the other girls kept joking around saying she would sue me. then my shoe came off during a big number and to top it all off it was my birthday! =Dnoticeable slip :(
I was at my christmas show thing for my dance competision team and u know how since ur on the team ur supposed 2 be kinda the best dancers in the studio? i was 10 and i was at a big part of my solo and i did a triple turn and then i suddenly did foutes they wernt even part of my dance but i did 2 and on the 3rd 1 i slipped and the whole audience gasped no one talked 2 me after the show….awkwardJust Keep Dancing!!!
For my first dance recital (i was and still am 12)we had to wear these super itchy tops to our costumes and the shoulders showed so you had either not wear a bra or wear one that you couldn’t see. I wore one you couldn’t see but it was a little too small. At dress rehearsal while I was dancing one of the straps came undone. I stopped dancing for a second an looked down to make sure nothing was showing(thankfully you couldn’t). While I was occupied with looking at my shirt the girl next to me almost ran into me(thankfully she didn’t). Well at the actual recital it happened AGAIN(still couldn’t see anything)!!! And then when I was doing my other dance (tap grrrr) I slipped on my shoes. There must have been like a hundred people who noticed(but my parents didn’t.Go figure).hi people of DG!!! Rock on
hi people of DG!!! Rock on and don’t have stage fright!!UFO
I was dancing to a space song, and we were practicing for the recital. We were doing a crazy dance move when my green wig for the costume flew off my head. It was a spinning UFO! I was so embarssed! But I kept dancing away!Clumsy
I’m WAY clumsy and I had a dance and we all had streemers. During practice I dropped it TONS of times. At my dance recital dress rehersal, I didn’t drop it so I got confidant. At the recital I dropped it and it almost fell of the stage! my face got bright red and i messed up a the whole way through the rest of the dance. I was way embarresed!!! OMGfriday funnies
well this week i was at camp, my friend and i pulled a prank by putting play dough on everythin. they pulled one on us and put play dough in our do. it ……to this day, stinks!!!!!shy
I GET SUPER SUPER SUPER SHYGRRRRRR
In third grade our chorus teacher promised that we would be able to try out for solos. Then she changed her mind and now we are going into fifth and NEVER tried out for solos but all the other kids got to when they were in fourth grade. Some of my friends have really nice voices too. IDK if I have a nice voice so I don’t want to brag about myself LOL.Solo!!!
I wish our school did solos and stuff like that but no(here comes the angry sarcasim), no solos because no ones part can be more important than anyone else even the people who want to just sit in the back. I really want to test my stage fright to see if I could do it.yeah,
are teacher lets us have solos ( but not this year because apparently she changed her mind! ) once this girl had a solo and she messed up and the teacher yelled at her and said “Next time you do that, I’m taking away your solo!” the girl started crying. I wish we could have a better chorus teacher.Wrong note, couldn't you tell?
It was time for the spring concert. Everybody wasn’t really prepared. There was this long and hard song at the very end of the concert, and the elementary, middle, and high school played all together. None of us really practiced and when we started playing the song, I kept getting lost. I tried to find where we were for a long time, and I didn’t want to just sit there and do nothing. But as soon as I guessed what note it was, they came to a rest and I played the wrong note loud!Pre stage fright
this isnt an embarrasing moment but im gonna say it anyway. My little sis’s camp was doing a play , which was today, butu she didnt want to be in it. When my mom asked her why not shes like “all those ppl are looking at u, waiting 4 u 2 make a mistake.” BTW we went 2 the play anyway even though she wasnt in it and it was really cute. Personally i dont thnk i suffer from stage fright thet much but the only time i ever was on stage was when i did a dance with a group of girls for a mother daughter program at my school so cant really say!Show-off
I got a small part in a play, and I was trying to show the teachers what I was capable of without telling them, because it would make me sound like a brat. So I memorized everyone else’s lines, and I mouthed them during show night. The teacher saw what I was doing, told the whole play to stop, and said “Kayla*, why are you mouthing the words to your friends’ lines?” I just stood there in shock, while everyone (INCLUDING MY BFFFFFFFF HAYLEIGH*) laughed. I’m now called “Show-off” around school. *All names have been changed to hide identitiesOMG WHAAAAAAT??
Your teacher probably ruined the whole play!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD ANYBODY DO THAT?!?!?Sheesh...
What teacher stops the WHOLE PLAY ust to ask you a question like that. Sheesh…I feel 4 ya
hey I would have done the same thing! Why?
Why would she stop the whole play just to ask you that? couldn’t she ask you wihout stopping the whole play?omg
omg not cool that your friend laughedWhy?!
Why would she stop the whole play just to tell you something as little as that? That’s sorta mean.So true
That is so true. She should get rewared for going the extra mileComment!
One time, I was on the backstage crew and it was my job to carry off this chair in between scenes. When the scene ended I wasn’t ready to grab the chair, and as if that weren’t enough, the curtain closed and I also wasn’t ready! I couldn’t get the chair! There was a short scene in front of the curtain, and then it opened and this party scene started! It was in plain view! The butler in the scene had to carry it off, and everyone on the crew knew it was me! Oops.OMG!
I kinda did that once… Well our backstage is kinda cramped at this one part, and I had 2 get to the dressing room quickly. We had a lot of scenes where we had to sit down, so there were MANY folding chairs in the backstage. I was running towards the dressing room, and I accidentally knocked down one of the METAL folding chairs!!! It made this HUGE noise!!! Luckily the kids onstage kept on going, but they paused 4 a little bit and it was REALLY embarrassing!!!Nutcracker
Once I was chosen to be in the Oakland Ballet’s Nutcracker and I was really excited. We had four shows on consecutive days. I was a gingersnap, the one who pops out of Mother Ginger’s skirt. During the third show, I came out too early and banged my head on the skirt frame. As I came out I was muttering “Ow ow ow” and also my hat fell off! The whole audience (800+ people) was laughing at me. At the end where I had to pretend to be scolded by Mother Ginger, she also had to give me my hat back. That was so embarrassing!Speechless
Okay, 2 things happened 1) This year the sixth and seventh grade did Godspell, and I sang Day by Day. But during this scene where a devil takes over and possesses someone, I was one of the devils and another girl was out sick. So in the middle of the scene, we were preforming, and the devil across from me shoots me a look, and says through gritted teeth-“say the lines”, -she meant the absent girl’s lines-but I didn’t know her lines, so there was this awkward silence through gritted teeth in the middle of a performance! 2) At camp we were doing this dance to the song Elmo’s World, and everyone in my cabin was either a kid, or a character-I was Elmo. We spent an entire week arguing about the dance, and when we were preforming, no one knew it, and we were whispering to each other the steps-we looked really silly up there in our colorful outfits with signs taped to our shirts that said our character, but the entire time we performed, we had so much fun, and after it was over, we were laughing really hard!go green
green IS THE BEST! my two bffs love green to!(maggie and rachel)its what makes the world go round!:)ugh :(
this year at my dance recital I had to wear a huge cast because at a soccer tournament a few weeks before I broke my elbow and everyone was coming up to me and saying, “you poor thing!” and, ” oh it must be so heavy” and such. I was embarassed!I Know How You Feel
Whenever I am sick and can’t go to school, the next day everyone always says, Why did you miss school? Are you sick? Are you feeling better? I never like that kind of attention! LOLI know
it is so annoying lol. and to make matters worse I forgot about recital and got a big yellow cast (my fave color) it made it even more noticable!!!Oh Darn
Oh Well. It’s over now. LOL I have never had a cast before.ya
I’m glad it is lol. What is your fav. color?Well...
It changes a lot but right now it is orange because my fav shirt is orange and also teal because I like the beach.
