Discovery Girls

Get to know the Discovery Girls of Mississippi with their very own diaries! This week, Isabelle is sharing a sneak peek at her pictures from the Mississippi Discovery Girls photo shoot!

To make my questionnaire stand out, I made a scrapbook! On each page I answered a different question with really cool, colorful backgrounds. I used basketball paper for my sports page, a cityscape background because I want to be a performer on Broadway, and an ocean theme because I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

When I first found out I’d been chosen as a Discovery Girl, I was so excited that I could hardly breathe! When my mom told me I thought she was joking, so I ran to the phone and checked to see the recent calls. Of course, it said, “Discovery Girls, Campbell, California.” I freaked out! I was so honored and excited that I had been chosen to participate in Discovery Girls!      

It is not tough completing the writing assignments. It is a challenge for me and I like answering questions that girls all over the world can see in Discovery Girls. I love helping other girls through their situations that I am going through, as well!

I prepared for the photo shoot by looking in my closet and putting my favorite outfits together with my earrings, bracelets, watches, belts, and shoes! I made sure that I took very good care of my skin by washing my face every night and using moisturizing cream! I stayed out of the sun, which is not an easy task living at the beach!

On our Behind the Scenes day, we went on Jean Laffiteʼs Swamp Tour in New Orleans, Louisiana! We saw alligators and turtles living in the Swamp! I met all of the the Discovery Girls for the first time! It was so exciting talking to everyone and how we all got to this point with Discovery Girls! I met some really great friends.

On the studio day, we got our hair and makeup done! We could even come to the shoot with our PJʼs on! I got my hair put up in a little french braid on the side! I have never had my hair like that, but I loved the style! We had to pose for our profile pictures.  We all had lunch together and talked about all we had in common!

My favorite part of the shoot was the swamp tour with all of my new BFFs! Towards the end of the “Behind The Scenes” shoot, we took funny pictures and played games to get to know each other even better! For example, one of the games that we played was “True or False.” One girl said she had met Justin Bieber but we all said false, and it was true! Lucky!

Here’s what I want to tell all you readers out there…if Discovery Girls comes to your state, do a questionnaire and try to become a part of Discovery Girls! It has been the best experience EVER! You never know…they could pick you! ☺ Let Discovery Girls be your opportunity to shine! It has truly helped me through many situations all girls experience! After all, girls rock!
